archaeological and architectural heritage of Etobicoke.

This may be done by publishing or printing material,
by holding public meetings, lectures and exhibitions,
and by undertaking a variety of information sharing,
publicity and publication education programs.

WHAT THE FOUNDATION HAS DONE...

The Heritage Etobicoke Foundation is presently in partnership
with Etobicoke's Museum, Montgomery's Inn,
in the presentation of its theatre-in-education program,
The Singing of Birds, for grades 4 to 8.

We are also partners with the
Village of Islington Business Improvement Area (BIA)
in a venture called The Islington Mosaic,
a murals project which celebrates
the natural, human and architectural heritage of Islington Village.

In conjunction with the Etobicoke Historical Society,
the Foundation supported the current restoration
of the historic Richview Cemetery, has assisted the Society in the printing of Robert A. Given's book "Etobicoke Remembered"
and has supported
the Alderwood Historical Society in the placement of
two commemorative plaques to recognize
Sir Adam Beck School
and the
O'Connor Homestead in Alderwood.

The Heritage Etobicoke Foundation provided
the initial funding for the publication
Kingsway Park, "Triumph In Design",
an architectural study of the many houses in
The Kingsway area designed by R. Home Smith.

In addition, we have provided financial support
to such heritage institutions as the
James Shaver Woodsworth birthplace, "Applewood",
and for the modern expansion of the Montgomery's Inn driveshed.

In its early days, the Heritage Etobicoke Foundation sponsored
a house tour of Etobicoke's Century Homes,
some of which are pictured in the
Etobicoke Historical Board publication,
Sidelights of History.
